Ryuichi Dunphy is an experienced space systems engineer, project manager and business developer, working for QinetiQ Space nv in Belgium. He works as the lead systems engineer for the Data-Handling Subsystem of the Hera mission, for the European Space Agency, due to launch in November 2024 to investigate the asteroid Didymos. He also leads several feasibility studies on innovative mission concepts for Earth observation and space debris removal.
In addition to his work at QinetiQ Space, he works as a Business Development Advisor for Space BD Inc, a Japanese space start-up providing rideshare launch and in-orbit services using the International Space Station. He also works as a space policy consultant for Japan Space Systems, a space industry agency under the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
He holds a Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and a Dual Bachelor Degree in Space Engineering and Physics from the University of Queensland. He also attended the International Space University Space Studies Program 2013.
